About the Journal
Founded in 1961 (with origins in the 1958 Economic Digest), the Pakistan Development Review (PDR; ISSN 0030-9729) is the flagship peer-reviewed journal of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad. It is one of the longest-running economics journals in South Asia, and publishes original, double-blind peer-reviewed research in economics and the social sciences, with particular emphasis on Pakistan and other developing economies.
Published three times a year, the journal levies no submission or article-processing charges. Articles are assigned DOIs and are indexed in Scopus (SJR 2025 Quartile: Q4), EconLit, RePEc, CAB Abstracts, the ABDC Journal Quality List, are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan in Category Y, and are available at JSTOR. The journal considers internationally accepted guidance on publication ethics.
Open Science & Compliance
- An ORCID iD is preferable for the corresponding author of every submission.
- Every published article is assigned a DOI.

- Manuscripts must not be under consideration, accepted, or published elsewhere, either in whole or in substantial part; simultaneous submission to another journal will result in rejection or retraction.
