Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, established in 1957 and chartered by the Government of Pakistan, is a university devoted to teaching and research in social science fields. It offers several advanced degree programmes. The Institute also serves as a think-tank for policy research, provides in-service training for government cadres, and conducts short-term diploma courses for other professional groups.
